The Unsung Hero program recognizes ZIN™ Members around the world for their outstanding contributions to their communities, and for their ability to inspire others. This month, August 2016, we celebrate ZIN™ Member, Amy Ortiz in Colorado, USA, for her heartfelt dedication to ensuring each of her students has the opportunity to enjoy a Zumba® class.
Amy has been a ZIN™ Member for seven years, and is well known in her community for going the extra mile, supporting fellow instructors and each of her students with kindness and that brilliant smile. But we got to see Amy’s work of heart in action in a different way this month.
In early August, Work Out West, a facility where Amy teaches Zumba® classes, shared a video of Amy giving a private Zumba class. Amy was teaching a student who was left completely blind following a tragic accident.
“This is truly heart warming Zumba instructor Amy Ortiz has been a huge influence on this woman during a very hard time in her life. Natalya was victim of a horrific crime which left her completely blind and without a sense of smell. She hasn’t let that get her down! Natalya is here working out often and attends Zumba weekly! The Zumba crew is such a great support for her and we couldn’t be happier to have her back!” – Work Out West Facebook Post
Amy, thank you for sharing your kindness and passion with your community of students and instructors. You inspire us to keep moving, no matter what challenge we are facing. You remind us that we can do it!
