The Unsung Hero program recognizes ZIN™ Members around the world for their outstanding contributions to their communities, and for their ability to inspire others. This month, June 2017, we celebrate ZIN™ Member, Nancy Young, from New Jersey, USA, for her joyful dedication to enriching the lives of children through dance!
Nancy Young has been a ZIN Member since 2008. Nancy is a preschool teacher, and mother of twin girls; a determined woman, who, even when she faced breast cancer at a very young age, says’ “Even with setbacks along the way I never let ANYTHING stop me!” Nancy has a contagious passion for life!
For the past 6 years, Nancy has volunteered to teach Zumba® Kids classes at Amidon-Bowen Elementary School in Washington, DC. Her daughter, Lindsey, also a ZIN Member (after encouragement from her Mom!), is a teacher at the school. Amidon-Bowen is a Title 1 school where over 90% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The Zumba Kids classes that Nancy brings to the students and teachers provide opportunities for self expression, and experiencing joy through movement, which truly make a lasting difference in these young lives.
Nancy, thank you for sharing your time and your passion with these future leaders!
