Unsung Heroes: Olgalucia Duran, MD

The Unsung Hero program recognizes ZIN™ Members around the world for their outstanding contributions to their communities, and for their ability to inspire others.  This month, we celebrate ZIN™ Member, Olgalucia Duran, MD, from Florida for her heartfelt work to help the children of Colombia.

In March 2016, ZIN™ Member, Olgalucia Duran, MD, joined forces with fellow instructors, ZES and ZJs, and our 2015 Inspiration of the Year award winner, Jhonny Pico, to bring the joy of movement and education to the children and communities of Colombia.  Olgalucia is currently traveling to places like Cali (Beto’s home town), Bogota, and Cartagena, providing free Zumba® Kids and Aqua Zumba® classes to children and their families.  Olgalucia and her team are committed to improving the lives of children, and supporting local charity organizations such as Save the Children, and the Pies Descalzos Foundation (Shakira’s foundation).
“Our vision is to improve the quality of life of many children via solid non-profit organizations.  We can provide education and tools for a better future, shelter family together, water, recreation, food and health.  What many have (taken) for granted as human rights.” -Olgalucia
Olgalucia, the impact of the kind and powerful efforts by you and your team will surely be felt for generations to come in Colombia and around the world.
