With the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) recently wrapping, everyone is talking about new technology trends. Dancers love to be on trend, so here’s where we think technology and dance will collide in 2017!
Hover Board Crews
This idea first popped up with some Beliebers fearlessly riding their hover boards to What Do You Mean, but we’re guessing we’ll see a whole lot more movin’ and groovin’ on hover boards this year. This year, we’ll probably see more antics like acro-dancing and robo-dancing – all while gliding through the air!
Dancers are getting creative, like in this show called Pixel, where the stage lighting reacts to dancers’ movements. We can see more choreographers using technology to design intricate and interactive sets.
More Social Media
Hashtags, filters, and emojis are here to stay, so we predict there will be more chances to copycat weird and wild dances online! Last year, comedian Chris D’Elia posted a hilarious video of himself dancing to Flo Rida’s My House, and his #realdancing routine took off with celebrities like Meghan Trainor and Jesse McCartney getting in on the action. Keep an eye out so you can get in on the next Insta-dance sensation!
Virtual Reality Gets Real
Experts think 2017 is going to be the year virtual reality goes mainstream. What could this mean for dancers? You might find yourself training like a back-up dancer for Beyoncé or tearing up the dance floor at a hot club… all from your living room!
