This is Why You Need to Celebrate Earth Day

You don’t need us to tell you that we should all be living each and every day like its Earth Day. It can be difficult to reduce our carbon footprint on a daily basis, but even small changes can make a huge difference in keeping our one and only Earth healthy and happy – after all, you make an effort to keep yourself healthy, so why not do the same for our big blue planet?

Because we officially celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd, we are here to give you a few tips on how you can make your healthy lifestyle work better for our world.

  • Recycle, recycle, recycle – with more than 7.5 billion people residing on Mother Earth, waste is a tremendous problem. You’ve heard it your whole life, but recycling does actually help, so be sure to properly dispose of your glass containers, paper products, and organic food waste.
  • Don’t use plastic – it’s pretty bewildering what plastic has done to our planet, especially our oceans. It is believed that 8 million tons of plastic waste ends up in the ocean each year, which eventually finds its way into the tummies of ocean species and throws off our entire planetary ecosystem. It’s near impossible to avoid plastic at all costs, but try being more mindful of when and how you use it and how you get rid of it.
  • Take your exercise outside – We are not suggesting that you do away with your gym membership by any means, but be conscious of the fact that gyms require a lot of electricity and water to run efficiently. On this Earth Day, why not take your Zumba® class outdoors? Find a park, a beach, or even your backyard and get your dance on. Extra bonus: a boost of Vitamin D, which always does the body good.

Now that we’ve shared some of our pointers, we want to hear from you. Tell us – what are your favorite #EarthDay tips?
