#LatinTakeover: The Rise of Latin Music

With Luis Fonsi’s Despacito recently becoming the most watched music video of all time – hitting 5 billion views on YouTube – it’s clear that Latin artists are blowing up in mainstream music. And this hit song wasn’t the only one; in 2017, there were a whopping 19 predominantly-Spanish tracks that made the Billboard Hot 100 list!

Many prominent singers have paved the way, like Selena, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Marc Antony, and Enrique Iglesias, to name just a few. Watching all of the 2018 music award shows, it’s clear that there’s a #LatinTakeover in music, and it’s here to stay! These are a few of our favorite performances:

Camila Cabello brought down the house with her new single at the Billboard awards.

And JLo and Cardi B offered a theatrical performance, assisted by DJ Khaled.

Cardi B was at the Grammys, too, this time performing with Bruno Mars.

What about Beyoncé’s Coachella performance with J Balvin?

And of course, the Grammys wouldn’t have been complete without the hit song we can’t get enough of sung by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee!
