Summertime in the Hamptons is synonymous with exclusivity and a good time. Celebrities, influencers, and socialites alike flock to the villages and towns each weekend to partake in VIP parties, good old-fashioned relaxation, and eating at the trendiest places. And if there’s one thing that every single Hamptonite loves, it’s a hot new workout.
Many exercise programs set up shop in the Hamptons each summer to take advantage of the high-profile clientele they will undoubtedly attract. Before you know it, word of mouth gets around and these classes become the new buzziest workout to try. The Summer of 2017 was no different with programs like SoulCycle, Taryn Toomey’s The Class, and New York Pilates all making appearances. But the hottest ticket on the block by far was high-intensity, music-led program STRONG by Zumba®.
If you’ve already tried it, then you know that SBZ is NOT a dance class. At all. It’s a super intense (but equally fun) hour of cardio that combines bodyweight and plyometric exercises, all synchronized to a beat. The music is so motivating that you won’t even realize how many reps you’re doing. Talk about effective!
STRONG by Zumba hosted classes over three weekends at Montauk hot-spot Ruschmeyer’s. The classes were led by Lead Master Trainer Ai Lee Syarief and Master Trainers Irena Meletiou and Brittne Babe and co-hosted by influencers like Dannijo co-creator Danielle Snyder, Bravo ‘Summer House’ stars Ashley and Lauren Wirkus (aka The Wirkus Twins), editor and writer Peter Davis, entrepreneur and innovator Jenné Lombardo, and public figure Joey Zauzig. Guests were treated to an amazing sweat sesh followed by fun mingling, refreshments, and snacks.
When speaking about his class experience, Joey Zauzig said, “That class was completely brutal in the best way possible. I’ve done so many different bootcamp classes but that was by far the best one.”
Jenné Lombardo said, “I just finished STRONG by Zumba and I felt incredibly powerful [throughout] the entire class. I was out of breath!”
Other guests described SBZ as unexpected but made you feel really strong, absolutely killer, very challenging and complementary to other cardio, and a great workout to get your booty right.
It’s hard to believe that the summer is wrapping up, but it has definitely been sweaty and unforgettable! Although the SBZ pop-up classes are no longer available, you can easily try a class near you. Head to strong.zumba.com to find a class and join the #STRONGcrew today.
