It’s the day after Thanksgiving in the U.S. Now what? Time to #treatyourself with some behavior that will benefit your physical and mental state. Here are our favorite ways to feel good after your turkey day feast.
Go for a stroll. Numerous studies have shown that even a short walk after a big meal helps with digestion, not to mention the extra calories you’re burning. So, even if your brain is begging for the couch, listen to your body and start moving!
Commit to a goal. Whether it’s registering for a 5K race or signing up with a new trainer, it feels great to recommit to your health. Bonus points for setting a goal with a friend or relative – it’s a great way to enjoy the holiday season together!
Practice mindfulness. According to Psychology Today, mindfulness is “a state of active, open attention on the present… Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience.” This practice can be applied to how you eat, too – listening to your body’s cues to nourish yourself with what you need, especially right after a holiday meal.
Drink detox water. Invented by nutritionist Cynthia Sass, Sassy water combines anti-bloat and digestion-friendly ingredients to ease your tummy and flush belly fat. You can find the simple recipe here.
Hit the dance floor. Need we say more? Nothing makes you feel as good as dancing your cares away whether at the gym or at the club.
