Five Steps for A Better Body Image

If you live in America, and you have a pulse, you have probably struggled with your body image at one point or another. We’re wired to focus on what we’d like to change about ourselves, when we should be focused on embracing our bodies as they are. Take these creative steps to get on the love-thyself path.
Create a motivational Pinterest board. If you’re already familiar with Pinterest, you know its value; it can act as your own unique media platform. Personalize your fitness journey by pinning your favorite workout tips, videos, photos and apps. Interact with other Pinterest members and encourage one another.
Don’t compare. On that same note, resist the temptation to compare yourself to others. Keep in mind that only supermodels look like supermodels—and they have teams of people to help them. Shift your focus from others to building your own self confidence and self-acceptance.
Think positive. This seems obvious because it is. Strive to overpower the negative voice in your head and replace it with a positive, affirming voice. Remind yourself of your accomplishments, no matter how small you feel they are. Then surround yourself with positive people who can reaffirm what you’re telling yourself.
Treat yourself as you treat others. See what we did there? We flipped the Golden Rule on its head. Don’t be so hard on yourself, and do something nice for yourself once in a while. You’ll feel better about yourself if you do. Plus, you deserve it!
Dress for success. When you look good, you feel good. Wear clothes that are flattering yet comfortable. As motivation, buy some jeans that are in the size you’re working toward and keep them handy. You’ll be in them in no time!
