How Smash Hit ‘Despacito’ Was Created

It’s the song that shook up the music industry, broke records, and fueled one of the best cross-over collaborations ever. Of course, we are talking about ‘Despacito‘, the smash hit by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, with a version featuring Justin Bieber. Even the act of reading the word ‘Despacito’ conjures up thoughts of the unmistakable chords, rhythms, and lyrics. We were all thrilled when Luis Fonsi released a special salsa version of the hit exclusively to the Zumba community, but perhaps we were left with a little something to be desired. The folks over at GQ must have felt the same way, because they got together with Fonsi to talk about the process of creating what is possibly one of the most globally recognized songs ever! This is an interview you don’t want to miss.

P.S. Still feeling the need to dance your booty off to some ‘Despacito’? Just head to a Zumba® class!
