“I have always loved to dance! I grew up doing theatre and taught ballroom dance after college. When I became a stay at home mom, I thought becoming a Zumba Instructor was a no-brainer, so I trained and received my license in June of 2012.
In the last 4 years, I have taught through my second and third pregnancies. Believe me, watching an 8-month pregnant woman dance is pretty entertaining! But, after the birth of my third child, I found myself very overweight. I’ve struggled with weight all my life and I felt like it was finally time to get it under control. I didn’t feel like I was the best role model for my kids and my students and it was really important for me to set a better example. So, two weeks after the birth of my third child, I joined Weight Watchers and two weeks after that, resumed teaching my Zumba classes. A little over a year later, I had lost a total of 105 pounds!
I never imagined I would be where I am now. I’m at a healthy weight, I’m full of energy, and I feel so blessed to have a job that brings me so much joy. I’m happy to say that I’ve also inspired many of my students to put a greater focus on their overall health. I can’t express how proud that makes me! I feel fantastic both physically and emotionally and I’m confident knowing that I am now a good role model.”
