Weekend Giveaway: Who’s Your Musical Motivator?

Whether your vice comes in the form of eggnog, latkes or just plain old candy canes, the holiday season is ripe for indulgence. And we say go for it! But there’s always a price to pay when the next morning rolls around. That being said… it’s not always easy to give workouts your all when visions of holiday parties (or just blurred vision) are dancing in your head. So tell us: What song or artist always motivates you to get up and move? Leave your answer in the comments section before 5:00 pm on Monday and you’ll be automatically entered to win a special gift from Zumba Apparel.

    I would have to say Shakira. Her music gets you moving and her perfect body is a motivator to keep you moving and working toward your fitness goals. I may never actually look like her body-wise after 4 kids and being in my 40′s, but I will never stop at least trying. And there is no more fun way to get there than with ZUMBA!

    Definitely BEYONCE!!!! She has so many songs that can serve as ‘theme music’ for any situation in your life. Just blasting her toons will get you up and moving! You even feel the need to channel her performances (which are motivating enough)! BEYONCE can motivate me to DANCE LIKE NO ONE’s WATCHING!!! Team Beyonce!!!

    “What Is Love” -Haddaway As cheesy as it may be, I can’t hear that song without getting up and rocking out. Turned it into my new warm-up song since it always gets me pumped to dance around without care.. Which is perfect for the start of a Zumba class!

  • My musical motivator is Hump De Bump by Red Hot Chili Peppers. I can’t help but get up and move and sing along when I listen to that song. I actually used it as a warm-up song in my classes for a while! I love all kinds of music so it’s hard for me to choose just one song or artist that motivates me, but this is one of them!

    It may sound crazy but silent night always motivates me to move.. Sometimes I get caught up with the craziness of Christmas, shopping, parties, that I don’t take time for myself. But as soon as I hear that song, it reminds me the true meaning of Christmas. It shows me how blessed I am this season and every season. Also not neglect how I live day to day especially in my health. So usually I hit the gym and go to a Zumba class.. Is that weird?

    My grandmother died on 12/2. I havent gone to a Zumba class since a week before. To get ready for her funeral I played so Don Omar to keep my spirits up. I love Danza Kuduro. If they can have that commitment to get those bodies and get beat up on a daily basis then I CAn and WILL get through this workout. GAME ON!!!!

    I would have to say “Pitbull”. He is an amazing artist that comes from a background that is inspirational! To be able to overcome such obstacles is such an Empowerment!     After taking a class with my favorite ZES during a weekend retreat, I fell in love with Rihanna’s We Found Love, which was our warm-up. It gets me moving no matter when or where I hear it. I play it for my students (at my day job as an elementary school teacher) everyday when they pack up. We love dancing singing and cleaning!

    There are so many artists out there that have really come into their own in the last couple of years and artists that seem to collaborate with everyone. But to me one artist that seems to have withstood the test of time is Gloria Estefan. Not only does she bring the Latin flavor and heat with her music but she can be enjoyed by people of all ages! I hear her music and I start to dance and sing and it always brings a smile to my face! I love her new song Wepa and I love the Conga remix that Zumba put out on the ZIN CD!

    My favorite song that is upbeat, has the Latin roots, is Que Te Pica by Notch. I love it, it keeps you going. It’s an intense song at points so you get to give it all you got :)
    But faves are definitely Pitbull, Enrique, and hip hop songs dance mixed, Missy Elliot or Jennifer Lopez!

    Overall from worship songs that are made into dance hits, to the top hits now. But latin roots definitely have the best dancing motivators. Love the beats and the feel behind those songs.

Those days I don’t feel like working out I’ll put one of their songs and it gives me that extra push and motivation. Their songs get me in the mood now matter how down and out I may feel.     lately Family Force 5 (Mamcita, specifically) gets me up and running (play it ad nauseum as I get dressed for Zumba)… but during class Prrrum has really kicked it up for me (a song we did early in my Zumba experience… one of the first I felt I really “knew”, and now as it’s brought back into the mix I can truly FEEL how far along I’ve come in less than a year… bringing it to a whole new level!)

    I love all kinds of music. My instructor uses a lot of Pitbulls music like – Give Me Everything,I Know You want me,The Anthem,Shake Senora Remix,Fuego and Don Omars Danza Kuduro and those songs keep me going to my Zumba class!! Love it!! It is awesome!!!

    After two 1/2 years of Zumba my main inspiration is Shakira. I go “Loca” if I don’t get Zumba and after 2 months being away from it due to physical therapy I was so happy to get back. My favorite Shakira song to dance to is “Bamboo Hips Don’t Lie”! I love that version! I had a blast at the thanksgiving day Zumba we had. I stayed 1 hour and 45 min! I am still recovering but the more I Zumba the better I feel.
