“I always poked fun at my mom for going to Zumba class so much, but she finally talked me into going. I was a mess during that first class, going left when the instructor was going right, 3 seconds off the choreography, but I kept with it. The Zumba program helped get me to a weight I wanted to achieve, and I decided to become an instructor to give back to others who were struggling to lose weight.
I began teaching once a week on top of my full time job and had lines of people waiting to get into my class. And then the unexpected happened. I lost my job of 10 years. I was devastated, scared, and unsure about my future. A client of mine approached me and said, ‘You need to be teaching Zumba full time. You care about your students. You’re good at what you do’. This was the conversation that turned my life around.
With the help of that client, I opened my very own studio, Fierce Fitness CLE. We’ve been in business for almost three years and see over 500 clients a week. I look back on all these people who have walked through my doors, taken my class, and have been inspired, and I can’t help but feel satisfied. To me, that’s the measure of success. They say things happen for a reason, and now I know it’s true.”
