Fashion For Your Feet: Get in on This Trend

Sneakerhead
(noun): A person who collects, trades, or admires sneakers as a hobby. Dating back to the late 70s, the sneakerhead movement is made up of people who collect and wear new and ‘retro’ designs of popular sneakers. With mottos like “fresh starts with your feet” and “fresh from the ground up”, these folks are serious about their kicks! And, this is no small trend – Forbes estimates that sneakerheads spent an incredible $1.1 million in 2013 alone!

Why worry about what’s on your feet? Well, sneakerheads love matching their favorite accessory to their outfits and enjoy the thrill of searching for just the right pair of shoes to go with their mood. From Lil John to John Mayer, celebrities have gotten in on the trend of having a sneaker for every occasion. You don’t have to spend a lot, either – just take some time to think through your outfit from head to toe.

Like the idea of fancy footwear? Here are some tips.

Pick something that makes you feel good about your look.

Seems obvious, but there’s nothing like the rush of having the perfect (insert crazy color here) sneakers to match your workout wear! Your shoes are sure to turn into a conversation piece, and what better way to feel good than to connect with others?

Pick something unique.

For sneakerheads, a big part of the game is hunting for a specific pair of shoes in just the right color and size. Look for a sneaker that represents who you are, whether that means gold and glittery or rainbow stripes.

Pick something comfortable!

Call us practical, but your sneakers have to be functional if you’re rocking them at the gym. If you’re dancing, keep in mind that you want a lightweight shoe with arch support and a flat surface for pivoting. Once you know your feet and ankles are supported, go crazy with design elements!

Don’t forget you can find trendy, funky, one-of-a-kind shoes in our online store!
