“I’m originally from Cozumel, Mexico, but I moved to San Diego three years ago. I’ve been practicing Zumba for many years and found a class I loved when I moved. My instructors were always telling me that I should become one myself, so earlier this year I asked a friend of mine if she wanted to take the training with me. For me, it was almost like asking someone to go for lunch someday, knowing that it might not happen. But to my surprise, she said yes. So, on February 29, 2016, we took our B1 Training!
Two days later, I auditioned for a teaching position at 24 Hour Fitness and I was actually hired! I started my class with eight people and before I knew it, I was up to 60. I think it’s because of the energy and enthusiasm I bring to class. I also am really active on social media and am always posting updates about my classes, so I think that word of mouth really helps fill up my classes. It’s crazy to walk into the gym and see a line of people waiting for me. As soon as I get there, I want to make people happy. I want them to forget about work, about their problems, and about everything that is bothering them. I feels so good when my students come and tell me ‘Thanks to you, I already lost 5 pounds’ or ‘Thank you, I had such a bad day and because of your class, now I feel awesome.’
My class is so full of energy. People are bringing more and more friends every day. It’s incredible to have a job that I’m so passionate about. I love to dance and I love making people happy. There’s nothing better!”
